Tell us about your work with seabirds.
Gabriela is a PhD student specializing in seabird reproductive biology and population dinamics in relation to ocean productivity and climate change. She has worked with diversity in the Gulf of Mexico region and currently works with the nesting tern and Heermann's Gull population of Isla Rasa in the Gulf of California.
What advice would you offer to individuals aspiring to pursue a career as seabird scientists?
It is a very varied field that not only encompasses the richness of seabird species, but also everything with which they interact to live: the marine productivity, their food, their resting and reproduction sites and even their interaction with the human being in cultural and tradition aspects. Also, the support network that exists among colleagues working for the conservation of seabirds is incredible, so for you all who want to enter the great world of this group of birds will be very well received!
